Barcelona, month summary.

During December we have started a new sequencing project for the TESLA GIGAFACTORY in Berlin. This confirms the presence of GIMM in the production for the 3 Tesla factories so far. This project is amongst many other that are taking everyday our product all around the globe.

On the side of our product improvements, during December were released new functionalities for the addition of advanced checks between master part and components based on their barcode or metadata, new options for the item code generation and a new functionality to take into account deeper levels of BOM in order to build the production routes of parts that do not require integration of orders. All of these new developments and some bug fixes are included in gIMM 4.0 CU86 and CU87, and can be downloaded from the Customer Area .

Barcelona, month summary.

Sequencing process is often very different from plant to plant depending on the part type, particularities in the production workflow or the requests of the OEM as a few examples. This often makes JIS/JIT systems difficult to standardize. LINCS2, the new reengineered version of GIMM sequencing solution, has addressed this challenge thoroughly, implementing a modular solution that also allows personalization. In this month we have some of these “nonstandard” project’s requirements like Smooth Production rules linked with JIS and picking systems, specific external interfaces or very particular trascodification rules. All can be added using LINCS2 without losing the overall product standardization.

We have worked as well in many traceability and production control projects and new product developments. In November, CU84 and CU85 were released including some improved system functionalities as recording new user actions in the User Activity log or the update of Crystal Reports to the latest runtime. As always, all are already available in the Download Center .

Barcelona, month summary.

GIMM has been selected to implement STOCS for the automation of one of the largest warehouse that supplies parts to Volkswagen production plant in Lisbon (Portugal). STOCS will manage the warehouse as well as control the Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), the conveyors and other external systems. The flexibility and robustness of our solutions and the experience of our expert team have been key for the election.

This month we have worked in many other projects, implementing and configuring our solutions to meet the exact needs of our customers and increasing functionalities in our product. An example of this is GIMM WebStation phase 2 project. This application is a multi-device browser based responsive web site for interfacing with the operator in production workstations. During the following weeks, new options as the access to operative functions from touch screens and the possibility to command several workstations from one terminal, will be developed and released in a cumulative update that will be available for all our customers.

September 2020

Barcelona, month summary.

From the smallest to the largest lines, regardless of their complexity, GIMM can be re-configured to meet new production requirements. Our September projects are an example of this. Some plants evolve their production and require changes in their GIMM systems and others add new lines. One of them stands out for the size of its production lines. The project will add 2 new lines with more than 40 workstations each, for the production of exhaust pipes for DAF Trucks in Roermond, the Netherlands.

This month we have also released one cumulative update for GIMM 4.0, including 3 new functionalities. Two of them are related to the XML files that contain the traceability information. With the installation of this CU, the plants will be able to configure the automatic or manual regeneration of lost files in a forced server switch. The system will also allow to include the tools and recipes used in the operations and the packing data in the export of traceability XML files.

At GIMM we will not stop until digitization in the manufacturing industry reaches any need and to any corner of the world.

Barcelona, month summary.

Summer is winding down, and the current Covid-19 case numbers are showing that the Corona pandemic impact is going to stay with us for a long time yet. But we have also seen that big challenges are achieved in times of crisis. Back in April, we told you about our experience in the Solidarity HACKATHON. This initiative from Mercabarna in collaboration with T-Systems Iberia, developed in 24 hours a fully application for the distribution of fresh food to vulnerable people, Mercabarna Solidaria .

Now we are very proud to say that the project has received the T-Systems International Cross Collaboration Award and even the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) mentions it as an example of measures for supporting whole sale markets during COVID-19, FAO report .

Mercabarna has delivered so far more than 135 tons of fresh food to the most in need, coordinating the donations by means of TSI’s solidary app. Congratulations to all this team, who participated voluntarily in this challenge, in particularly to the 11 GIMM team members.

And with a big proud smile and the same enthusiasm and team spirit shown in the T-Mercabarna Solidaria app, we keep working in our GIMM projects and services. During August we’ve been working in projects that will be implemented in plants of China, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Mexico, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Thailand, USA and Vietnam as you will see in the overview below.

Barcelona, month summary.

New LINCS and PROCS projects arrived in July will make adaptations and create new lines producing and sequencing for PSA, SEAT, FORD, JLR, VW, SKODA, VOLVO, FIAT & MASERATI.

One of this LINCS projects will implement LINCS2-phase1 for PSA. The all-new-reengineered version of our sequencing system is already being roll-out in some plants. Some of the benefits of this version are increased robustness and standardization, and easier configuration while allowing complete flexibility for plant’s specifics.

GIMM4.0 CU79 was released on July with 5 bug fix mostly for SCS. Another bug in Synchron user interface was solved in Synchron 3.0 CU012. Download Center .

Barcelona, month summary.

Most of our projects in June aim to implement changes in current PROCS or LINCS installations, several of them self-configured by the customer. This project model is an option available in GIMM deployment projects that results in a considerable reduction of the project’s price while the quality of the project is ensured by our consultants during the design phase and a pre-implementation review.

On the other hand, Support Center tool was upgraded as part of the continuous improvements we carry out in our services. The new version includes an improved user interface with shortcuts to creating new tickets and notable changes in page layouts and navigability, and web browsers compatibility updated to the latest version.

To finalize, 2 cumulative updates, CU078 on GIMM 4.0 and CU018 on RUNBLOCKS 6.0, were released this month. They include several new functionalities as an automatic user logout by inactivity or shift change in PROCS workstations and the enhancement of several Runblocks functional libraries, as well as various bug fixes. Barcelona, month summary.

As the pandemic recedes, most of our customers have restarted production and delivery during May. Many of the projects starting this month aim to implement new lines for the production and sequencing of new car models, mainly in EMEA but also in ASIA.

Apart from projects, continuous improvement is also a big part of our day by day in GIMM. We investigate and develop ways to improve our services and products, as well as our internal procedures. Many of this efforts end up in a tool or a product cumulative update that are available to all our customers. Are you familiar with all the content available in Download Center? You can find from product and CU installers with additional information and manuals, until several useful tools to ease and accelerate support and maintenance tasks. As an example, you will find our Server Performance Selection Tool which assists in the evaluation of the necessary server resources for a new GIMM Traceability or Sequencing project’s server.

Two new cumulative updates on GIMM have also been released this month. Some of the new functionalities included are GIMM compatibility with SQL Server 2017 and 2019, the possibility to associate multiple printers to a workstation or the option to configure Workstation tools by Part Family or Feature. Barcelona, month summary.

Our personal and work lives keep impacted by CoVid-19. However this situation is also bringing out the best of ourselves. This month part of the GIMM team has been highly involved in the Solidarity HACKATHON that built in 24 hours a fully application to optimize the distribution of fresh food to vulnerable people T-Mercabarna Solidaria . It has been a very comforting and demanding experience that valued our skills as a team. Great teamwork and decisions have been the key to not only succeed but also to create more than the minimum valuable product even with the whole team working from home. Another key factor has been T-Systems’ infrastructures and collaborative tools that made this experience, and our day to day from March 13th, much easier LinkedIn T-Systems Iberia , #tsibcovidchallenges, #peoplemakeithappen

In parallel, our projects go on all around the world, from China to USA through Turkey, Slovakia, Czech Republic, South Africa, Mexico and, of course, Spain. GIMM Development team keep working as well releasing new functionality and bug fixes. During April, two cumulative updates on GIMM 4.0 were released, CU074 and CU075, and one on Runblocks, CU017, that includes the new connector to Renault PSPv. Barcelona, month summary.

These days all our lives are impacted by CoVid-19. As a precautionary measure, all our team is working from home since March 13th. Nevertheless all GIMM Services continue uninterrupted. This month we have received projects to implement new lines all around the world: Russia, China, South Africa, France, and Czech Republic. Others are expanding their current lines with new workstations or requesting new functionalities that will be developed by our team in the next weeks.

We have also released two new GIMM 4.0’s CUs, CU72 and CU73 adding new functionality and solving some bugs, and one for RUNBLOCKS, CU016, including several improvements in the configuration tool.

We hope this virus will be contained soon and that life resumes normally for all of us.

Barcelona, month summary.

Production plants usually need to be upgraded as their products change or evolve. For this reason it is essential that MES software is flexible and easily adaptable. Production control and traceability installations with PROCS have this capability. Once the plant is initially setup, it is very common that it keeps implementing small changes to add new lines, new workstations, and changes on current lines’ workflow to adapt PROCS all along the plant’s life cycle, thus incrementing its ROI. This have been the case of several of our customers in February.

Additionally 2 CUs have been released: GIMM 4.0’s CU71 that adds new functionality regarding PROCS plant interconnection, and to WebSTOCS, the working interface of our Warehouse Management System; The second cumulative update applies to RUNBLOCKS, CU015, that implements new functionality for PSA Corail.

Barcelona, month summary.

New Year, new projects, new GIMM Module, new publication... First of all, have you heard about the GIMM boxes? It’s our new innovation project on IOT development platforms that allow to implement any functions desired. You can read more about it on T-Systems Iberia blog, www.t-systemsblog.es/gimm. Do not hesitate to contact us for any additional information.

We are also starting to develop a new Synchron connector for RSA. This JIT module will receive production data from Renault PSFv servers. As the others GIMM EDI modules, it will be able to work autonomously or together with LINCS. Please refer to SOLUTIONS>MODULES page for more details.

Several deployment projects are starting this month as well, many of them are plant’s self-implementations of PROCS. This means that the plant configures the system to add new workstations or change production or traceability parameters on their own. GIMM team review the project planned changes in the beginning and then validates the final installation to ensure quality and zero errors. This project modality has less economic impact on the customer as well as more time flexibility.

To finalize, two GIMM 4.0 cumulative updates have been released in January, CU069 and CU070, and are available on download center for our customers.
