Barcelona, month summary.

We come to the end of a challenging year. This month we will start launching GIMM-PROCS in the production process of parts for LUCID Motors, the luxury electric cars manufacturer. Also PROCS will be installed in a new plant in Langfang (China) and LINCS, our sequencing system, will be integrated with a COBOT in a plant in France. These are only a few of our very interesting projects that started in December.

Three cumulative updates were released, making available to our customers new functionalities and some bug fixes. A few examples are the adaptations of GIMM SCS Control System to meet BMW requirements; or the possibility to Uniquely identify workstations across all plants of a customer.

Barcelona, month summary.

Sometimes it becomes absolutely clear that GIMM is about Lean, that is, about reducing waste and continuous improvement. Not only because GIMM solutions support manufacturing and delivery processes using Lean tools as Kanban, Andon or Poka Yoke. GIMM also is continually growing with functionality that enables the factories and OEMs to optimize their processes. The use cases released in November are examples of this.

UC1151 - Will implement quality control over the content in SYNCRO96ATP, the forecasted orders file. The objective is to avoid errors during the production process of the sets of parts required on each order.
UC1270 – Enables a new option to print the Sequence label right after the previous Container was checked. This allows to better synchronize the processes in the plant.
UC1289 – New report to show dependencies between incoming materials and workstations.
UC1290 – New option in the container management to create new cargos with the automatic assignation of containers according to two templates defined by the OEM and with the available containers for each type. This new functionality aims to improve the utilization rate of the trucks.

On the deployments’ projects side: A new plant that will sequence parts to PSA Mulhouse, a PROCS implementation to produce parts for Geely Auto Group in Wuhan, and many others challenging and interesting adaptations.

Barcelona, month summary.

In October we have celebrated our cumulative update 100 for gIMM 4.0. It's been hard work of all the Team since 2014 to always achieve the highest levels of quality and Customer satisfaction. CU100 brings 7 new functionalities, including improvements in PROCS workstations as new printing options, or the securization of finished goods against unwanted recovery, one new components screen for PROCs WebStation and a new option for barcode’s reading in WebPicking. Several OEM’s new requirements have arrived this month and will be developed and implemented during the following weeks in some of our Customer’s plants. Additional validations on the call-off files previously to integration for BMW; Management of special orders in the sequencing process for TESLA; or implementation of SKODA’s call-off downloader for INOKOM providers are a few examples summarized in the news below.

Barcelona, month summary.

GIMM Solution growth is based in 3 main pillars. The first is our Customers’ needs, that might arise from standards and regulations, the OEMs demands or the Customer's internal necessities; the second pillar is the market trends aligned with T-Systems objectives; and the third but not least is our internal search for continuously improving our solutions robustness, user experience and systems management. You’ll be able to find many of these examples in previous news as well as in the use cases in the Download Center. Two of them are included in CU98, released on September 14th:

- Use case UC1260 aims to cover a European regulation for car manufacturers, which need to receive some traceability details from their suppliers. This use case creates a new interface that will allow the user to configure the content of 3 csv format files with the required information.

- Use case UC1255 provides solution for a new requirement from VW Group. The OEM requests their suppliers to send Baugruppen files by truck, that will include serial numbers from the components used to produce parts. A new interface has been created to generate the Baugruppen files of all the parts loaded in a selected truck.

All the new functionalities and bug fixes are accessible by our customers in the Customer Area .

In parallel, we keep working in the deployment of our solutions and their Support and Maintenance. A good example is the implementation of GIMM-PROCS in a new plant in Franklin (USA). After the deployment, PROCS will control the production and the traceability of parts that will be delivered to FORD Chicago. You will find this and many other projects in the list of our achievements this month.

Barcelona, month summary.

In GIMM, the engines never stop. During August many projects and new product developments are coming alive. Most of the projects are implementing changes or improvements to the existing production lines, but a few also create new lines for the traceability and production control of a new vehicle part.

A big LINCS-Sequencing implementation have occurred as well. LINCS started to manage the picking and sequencing operation of an OEM’S logistic provider in Argentina. Our solution replaces the provider's own solution. This allows the OEM to be independent from the logistic company that provides the service. The whole project has been executed remotely, with local teams on the infrastuctures side and post-golive support.

This summer is also bringing several product improvements. CU97 was released on August 6th, including new functionalities such as UC1232-Manage machine processes that have very long duration, UC1256-Generate ASN files for Lamborghini including a free text entered from the Cargo Management Screen and UC1273 – New autopacking workstation. All the content of this cumulative update and others are available at the Customer Area .

Barcelona, month summary.

Automotive industry is the most known example of Mass Customization, combining the personalization and flexibility of custom-made products with mass production. At the manufacturing level, Mass Customization takes independent modules and customizes them into different functionalities that suit the user’s preference. Modules are usually produced by different suppliers which factories equipment and robots, controlled by computers, are configured to readjust the production. A big part of our projects reflects these readjustments by adding new workstations and references (modules), adding lines or changing the lines workflow. You’ll be able to see some of these cases in our news this month.

CU96 was released at the beginning of the month including a new configuration option in PROCS SAP interface added to declare backflushes. Please remember that all Cummulative Updates (CU’s) of our solutions can be downloaded at the Customer Area .

Barcelona, month summary.

A cornerstone of Industry 4.0 is the interconnexion between different production items (horizontal integration), and these in turn with the factory's information systems (vertical integration). Horizontal Integration ensures that machinery and engineering processes work together seamlessly, while Vertical Integration makes production data available for decision making purposes, at all company levels. GIMM provides flexible solutions for connecting with external devices and software applications, which are commonly implemented in our projects. One example of this, is a project we are working on this month for the integration of LINCS and PROCS with a KARDEX warehousing solution.

Additionally, we have updated our product with three new functionalities. These improvements consists on an adaptation in the container label to highlight it with an error message when there is a sequence jump in it, to show a new status (Non-traceability PLC) in the workstations Monitoring Screen and to add the OEM Sequence Number into a segment of the SAP interface. Barcelona, month summary.

Poka-Yoke is one important feature present in all GIMM solutions. This working strategy developed by Toyota in the 1960s, is applied nowadays in many logistics and production processes to simplify the operators work while significantly reducing the defects and speeding up the picking process. Poka-Yoke practices and technologies are chosen in accordance with the plant’s processes and automation level. This month we are working on projects with several of these solutions, from a basic ECS (Expedition Control System) with a manual barcode reader, pick-to-light and kitting systems and even RFID tunnels for automatic validations.

Other projects this month also aim to implement continuous improvement techniques by configuring different dashboards that will allow the plant to anticipate to changes or problems in their production and/or sequencing processes.

On the side of GIMM product developments, CU093 was released in May including 2 new functionalities, one for the creation of a Custom Shipment external interface and the other to change JitEvents interface making configurable the padding of the segment E1PRSQ. Visit Customer Area for downloads.

Barcelona, month summary.

This month, amongst many others, we have a new project to implement Webpicking. This software is able to show Picking lists in a web application with the materials that an Operator must bring to the assembly lines, with no waste of paper for this task. The web application can be accessed by a browser installed in multiple devices, such as PCs, mobiles, iPads or Android tablets. The Kitting shows in which position of the picking repository should each material be placed. It also has a visual aid that can include a picture of the part and the location in the storage area.
The implementation of Webpicking results in multiple benefits for the plant such as optimization and reduction of displacement times, human error reduction and Fast training of operators, and at the same time is highly scalable and doesn’t need any hardware or software installation.

We have also released GIMM 4.0 CU92. This cumulative update solves some bug fixes and, as usually can be downloaded from the Customer Area .

Barcelona, month summary.

GIMM will be implemented again in Argentina. Our Just in Sequence solution, LINCS, has been selected for the sequence delivery of ten family parts to VOLKSWAGEN in Pacheco. Far away from there, PROCS will start managing the production of some parts for Ferrari at Maranello (Italy) and for BMW-Brilliance, the joint venture that produces, distributes and sales BMW passenger cars in mainland China. These are only a few of our coming projects that you will find below.

Seven new functionalities are also available at the Customer Area from March, as for example the possibility to apply different trascodification rules depending on the OEM Point and the inclusion of the SCS device ID in the traceability data.

Barcelona, month summary.

We are very happy to keep expanding the number of customers that find in our Product suit the solutions that will help them grow in the Industry 4.0. One of these new implementations will also take GIMM to a new country, Malasia. A warm welcome to CEFA, Rhenus and Clarion.

A big variety of projects have arrived during February. New implementations of Synchron, this time for EDI exchange with Opel Figueruelas; projects to adapt LINCS for particular OEM situations or to implement improvements for the plant itself, as automations by integrating our systems with the plant’s ERP; and of course, new installations and extensions of the current production and sequencing systems.

We have also released WebCore, the new framework to manage the communication and visualization between Expedition and Shipping Control Systems (ECS/SCS) and the shopfloor devices. New projects implementing ECS/SCS will benefit from WebCore. Read new in LinkedIn.

We start a new year that is still full of uncertainty. Nevertheless these are times for transformation and growth in every aspect of our lives. GIMM Team is fully committed with this new future finding new ways of doing, being Agile and most of all listening and adapting to our customers’ needs to move forward together. Best wishes for 2021.

Our projects in January will adapt current GIMM installations to the new requirements of the plants’ production and sequencing processes. Two of them aim to implement Synchron. The supply process for production material, spare parts, and stocked general material is commonly supported by EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). Synchron is our module for electronic data interchange between OEM’s plants and their suppliers. It compiles several solutions for connecting to PSA, RSA, TESLA and most recently to FORD NGAVS/EBC that is being implemented globally in Ford’s vehicle assembly plants.
